Not much sewing going on around here the past couple of weeks. I need to do some catch-up this weekend, but I have had numerous personal commitments after work recently that have kept me from my stitching.

Anyways, here’s this week’s round-up of needlework, art, and book news from around the web:

• The American Folk Art Museum in New York is exhibiting wartime quilts made by British soldiers from their uniforms in the 18th and 19th centuries.
• Mika Hirasa reimagines Little Red Riding Hood as intricate appliqué illustrations.
• Cloth Paper Scissors shares the “Dos and Don’ts of Handmade Gifts.” I love receiving handmade gifts, but I know many people don’t…appreciate them. I’m very selective about who I make stuff for now.
• Trish Burr has a great tutorial on blocking your embroidery. I’ve never done this. Usually washing and ironing is enough to get the hoop marks and other wrinkles out for me.
• I’ve posted about the free cross-stitch patterns from Country Living before, but I’m sharing it again because the December issue features a fun snowflake design that would be a great quick stitch for the holidays.
• Not ready for snowflakes yet? Crayola has a whole page of fun, free Thanksgiving coloring pages on their website.
