I did not do a lot of stitching this week, but here is my progress on the cross-stitch pattern “Fear Not” by Little House Needleworks:
If you compare it to last week’s post, you’ll see that I finished stitching the little fence that runs along the bottom of the grassy hill. Next I plan to tackle the rest of the border on the right and then start stitching the rest of the verse which appears in the bottom half of the project.
Friday Finds
And, here are a few things I thought were worth sharing this week:
- I liked this “Summer Reading List for Creatives.” The Palette Perfect book looks interesting. I love color inspiration books.
- Actor Nicholas Hoult is a knitter, and Austin Kleon has some great thoughts about the importance of hobbies when times are tough.
- This embroidery hoop art by Russian stitcher Elena Moart is fun: “Embroidery Artist Stitches Colorful Interiors of Homes Filled With Charming Details.”
- One of my co-workers told me about this bookstore in Scotland where visitors get to run the bookshop, and then I saw this article about it this week in the NY Times: “A Critic Sells Books Down by the Seashore.” Sounds so neat, but apparently it is booked for the next two years.
Video of the Week
Yes, you’ve probably already watched this, but if not, it is a must-see. Grab some tissues before pressing play. Also, Fr. James Martin has some great thoughts about the whole encounter, too.
What lovely cross stitch. It’s a lovely message, but the picture makes me think of the first book In the betsy-tacy series that I’ve just read, where betsy and tacy take picnics up the hill out the bottom of their street.
Great links too… I’d read about the bookshop before, but not this guy’s experience of it. It would be fun to do🤗
What a cute little stitch! It’s looking lovely.
